DETROIT -- For the eighth straight year, the Detroit Red Wings are teaming up with Detroit Receiving Hospital Burn Center, the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union, and the Southeast Michigan Fire Chiefs to help prevent frostbite this winter with the "Motor City Mitten Madness" clothing collection December 19th and December 21st at Joe Louis Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. games.

Fans attending Detroit's home games on those nights against the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks Flyers are asked to bring clean, new and used gloves, hats, scarves and other winter wear items to collection bins at Joe Louis Arena. The clothing will then be distributed to Detroit area shelters and warming centers to aid in the prevention of frostbite among the homeless.

Each donor will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win Red Wings merchandise autographed by Darren McCarty. One winner will be announced at each of the two games and must be present to win.

Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings leads all votegetters for the World All-Stars in POWERade/NHL STAR POWER '02, the voting to determine the starting lineups for the 2002 NHL All-Star Game presented by Nextel. The game will be played Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 in Los Angeles (3 p.m. ET, ABC, CBC, SRC). The top NHL players representing countries outside North America will comprise the World All-Star Team that will face the top NHL players from North America.
